Micro Pilot Unit Design & Build

Pilot unit design is a critical part of any new technology implementation and is one of the first high-risk activities that needs to be accomplished in order to move both TRL and MRL.  It is typically the culmination of extensive bench-scale engineering research and development and informs critical capital planning and technology demonstration milestones.

Complex array of pipes, gauges, and machinery at Myant X's process operations facility showcasing advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Myant X has extensive background in connecting various unit-operations together into a fully-fledged process operating environment, whether continuous, semi-batch, or batch.  Our approach to pilot unit design is to produce a solid foundation of process understanding upon which we base design assumptions for fabrication and build.  We leverage our wide range of capital infrastructure to experiment and validate independent unit operations alongside modeling and simulation efforts to understand system interactions.

When it comes time to build the pilot unit, our team is able to perform Process Hazard Assessments to complete the design phase as well as pre-start safety reviews to begin commissioning activities. The ultimate goal of any pilot unit is to produce data to inform decision making or design iterations; because of our unique infrastructure and experience, we are able to not just design and build but also operate and iterate the system within our facility.
